What it Takes to Be a Great Teacher
By Suri Roth
Executive Editor and Founder of The Current Events
“The foundation upon which the relationship of teaching and learning can be built is the ability to genuinely connect with students, understanding their interests, their challenges, and strengths. I have found that creating a calm and positive atmosphere enables students to focus fully on the learning processes. Teaching is about setting student on a track of wanting to inquire and to master. Teachers can’t give what they themselves don’t have. It takes both a desire to understand and an in-depth knowledge of any given subject area in order to be able to distill it and to give it over to students.”
